Melody Has Returned Back - Utthaan Review by Vivek Sharma

Kumar Sanu has proved that he is also a GREAT MUSIC DIRECTOR besides being an outstanding singer.

The MELODY which is lost in nowdays in hindi movies is brought back by Kumar Sanu’s refreshing compositions of Utthaan.

Music of Utthaan has brought back a NEW ERA of MELODIOUS hindi movie music (which was spoiled by "dhak chak dhak chak" ear shattering nasal songs of Himesh Reshmaiya)

Songs:-

1) Ab Neend Kise :- THIS SONG HAS POTENTIAL TO CREATE RECORDS. Very nicely composed....Great work Mr. Sanu.

2) Ye Kaisa Utthaan :- Asha Bhosle’s velvetic voice, over such a natural and heart touching composition by Kumar Sanu, penetrates your soul. I can imagine 100 violens playing at a time in this music. Hat’s off to you Kumar Sanu for such a GREAT COMPOSITION !!!! Sonu has also sunged this song very nicely.

3) Abhi Tum ho Kamsin :- Again a high class song by KING OF MELODY & ROMANTIC SONGS, Kumar Sanu.

4) Everything is Okay :- This is again very well composed fast track song. This song will be played surely in ever dance party!!!!

To sum up:- THIS IS BIRTH OF A GREAT MUSIC DIRECTOR-KUMAR SANU .

Utthaan Music Review - by Altafbhai

This is singer Kumar Sanu’s music director debut in Hindi films (he did a private album before called Kaise Kahoon). Judging from the cover there seems to be great music in store also since it is known that Pyarelal (from the Laxmikant Pyarelal fame) has lent a hand in arranging the music.

’Yeh Kaisa Utthaan Hai’ has 2 versions (by Asha and Sonu). The Asha version is indeed preferable and also longer. Asha sounds much younger than in her other recent songs and sings this song with great feeling. Sonu Nigam also sounds much more fresh than usual. But the highlight of this song is the piano music in the beginning and end - what a tune! Also it for sure seems that Kumar Sanu used no electronic instrument for this song. Great start

’Ab Neend Kise’ also has 2 versions (alas one is a Remix of the other). Sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka, this song continues in the modern mold of bollywood music and yet goes further with atleast some melody infused. This is like a Himesh Reshamiya song sung by professional singers, and indeed the music is also well arranged. One thing to note is that the music needs no equalization - just listen to it as is. This is a sure fire HIT

’Abhi Tum Ho Kamsim’ is the 90’s style melody romantic song. A very listenable song, I particularly like the talking and little laughs in between. This is a must for all melody lovers

’Thok Dalega’ is the one passable song of the album from a musical point of view (don’t all albums have them? - almost). This is a situation number and its true value will depend on the film. Singing by Hema Sardesai is OK

Overall, a great start for Kumar Sanu. In this album there is a variety of different types of songs but all will cater to the broad audience. Kumar Sanu has brought back the time when music was created with a passion and this has left me wanting more. Keep it up!

Utthaan - '’The Upliftment"

A Film by KUMAR SANU

The story of Utthaan relates to the generation of today's youth who want to reach the top by any means but they do not have any direction. They are engrossed in reaching to the top and getting the maximum facilities with maximum monetary benefit in the shortest time. The glitter of money and the glamour of the chair is all that counts to enter the elite society. To achieve this, they use any means at the cost of their principles and self respect.

This story depicts characters who employ these methods. The story is set in today's world destroyed by the corruption.Politics of today has become such a corrupt business that the people enter it to achieve power ,money and influence.

The story brings out the darker shade of media which plays an important role in this corrupt system. The media plays an important part to elevate somebody or destroy somebody. The youth of today therefore enter the media in order to achieve their unlimited selfish ambition. They forget their honesty, origin and indulge in hypocrisy. The result is that they are instrumental in destroying the values and principles of the country.

The story raises some burning issues ,how the youth can contribute to the upliftment of the country but actually they are destroying the country because of their selfish ideology. Judging the present situation, what will be the situation tomorrow?

The hero of the story Prashant Bharti is a media man from Mumbai who wants to expose corrupt politicians. He is graduate from Lucknow University who won the post of president of student union twice and his aim is to get the top for which he becomes friendly with Kiran Talreja,a beautiful hi-fy model whom he met at the Lakme Fashion Show who also wants to reach the top by hook or crook. The hero realize that Kiran is the right person to help him achieve ambition, for that reason he encourages and introduces her to his social circle and his superiors who are helping him.

The story exposes how both of them have abandoned all the principles to achieve their ambitions and in this process they have become enemies of each other and want to kill each other !!

‘Who says Kumar Sanu is finished? - Latest Interview - by Faizan Ahmed

The ‘Kuch Na Kaho’ singer defends his turf while speaking about his future projects

Ram Kamal Mukherjee

For the last five years you have not made too many public appearances.

I am here in Mumbai with my family. Just because I am not singing for too many Hindi films that doesn't mean I am dead. (Laughs) I regularly record for Bhojpuri, Bengali, Assamee, Tamil and Telegu films. My track ‘Chickni Chickni’ from Boney Kapoor's No Entry was a hit. I’ve always been quality conscious and I will maintain that. Recently, I recorded a song for Sooraj Barjatiya's Vivah which was composed by Ravindra Jain and is very melodious.

It has been alleged that your work has shrunk because you are not getting too many offers.

Why are these people spreading such baseless rumours? I am happy and content with my life. I agree that the trend has changed and now music is more about the visual impact. I’ve stopped switching on music channels because most of the songs involve semi-nude models and vulgar dance steps. It's a pity that they are not even sparing legends like Mukeshji, Rafiji, Kishoreji, Lataji and Ashaji. I am waiting for this era to get over. I am sure melody will return with a bang.

Have you turned your attention completely to production now?

Yes. I’ve completed Uttham with Priyanshu Chatterjee and Neha Dhupia. I have composed the music and Pyarelal (of Laxmikant Pyarelal fame) has composed the background score. I had to monitor each shot of the film. The director went on shooting and we had to chop a considerable portion of the film. Now the film looks good and I am sure people will like it. It releases in June

It was reported that you had problems with Neha Dhupia during the post production of the film. She even refused to dub for your film.

This is untrue! I don't think that she had any problem with me. If she did, she would have informed me. There was a problem with the director, which has been sorted out.

Is it true that you are producing another film with Ujjwal Chatterjee based on Sarat Chandra's novel?

Yes, I am going to make a film based on Sarat Chandra's novel, but not with Ujjwal Chatterjee. I have already recorded two songs with Asha Bhonsle and by the end of this year we shall start work on the film.

Why aren't you releasing any private albums like your contemporaries?

I have a contract with T Series. They paid me only Rs 101 for three years. Besides this, one of my private albums has been lying with them for a year. I was extremely close to Gulshan Kumar and his son Bhushan, but I've asked him to release me from the contract so that I can bring release my own albums.

Are you disappointed that Himmesh Reshmiya is getting all the attention in Bollywood these days?

I think he is very lucky. Nowadays songs are all about media hype and promotion. Even an average song can be a chartbuster. If a bad song can get so much adulation, what about melodious song ? It's sad that people aren’t listening to Nadeem Shravan’s music anymore.
We are all aware of Himmesh’s capability as a singer, and how much he has been promoted. In a country where Emraan Hashmi becomes a super star, anything can happen.
